ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS
                                            

     The ability to gather information on additional questions is an important aspect of the Drug Evaluation Network System (DENS). Questions can be added to the core Addiction Severity Index (ASI) instrument.

•       There is space for 5 additional questions to be added in the Medical, Employment,
         Drug & Alcohol, Legal, Family Social, and Psychiatric sections of the ASI.

•       In addition, there is space for 5 additional drugs in the drug grid of the Drug &
        Alcohol section of the ASI.

     DENS has been testing and refining the additional question technology since 1997. At this point, 64 questions have been added to the ASI since December 1998.  Since the additional questions are activated in every site throughout DENS, each site unfortunately cannot add their own additional questions.
